Export credit insurance: Ducroire-Delcredere in Belgium

Its purpose is to promote international economic relations, essentially by covering risks related to exports, imports and investments abroad.

Ducroire/Delcredere is also authorised to cover foreign exchange risks, insure transit operations, participate in export financing and carry out on behalf of the government any technical, financial or representation mission entrusted to it. The insurance primarily covers non-OECD markets.

The commitments assumed by Ducroire/Delcredere are guaranteed by the Belgium State Government, with the exception of activities customary exercised without public support by private credit insurers. In this case Ducroire/Delcredere is competitive on the Belgian credit insurance market. When the intensity and the duration of risks exceed its technical capacities Ducroire/Delcredere may intervene directly on behalf of the government.
Ducroire/Delcredere is also active through its participation in other foreign trade tools, in addition to its insurance activities. In Belgium, for example, it is represented at Finexpo and Société Belge d'Investissement International (SBI). top
Internationally, Ducroire/Delcredere is directly associated with the activities carried out in the framework of the European Union, the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development and the Paris Club. It is also a member of the Berne Union (International Union of Credit and Investment Insurers).
Its commitment to working with the private sector is also reflected by Ducroire/Delcredere's voluntary entry into the reinsurance market, where it transfers a portion of the commercial risks that it assumes in all countries.
This enables Ducroire/Delcredere to balance its risks while learning about the specific characteristics of this market and thinking about the future.
